How to Make a Crepe Paper Flower Wreath: A Step-by-Step Guide
2025-08-21 10:00

Crepe paper wreaths are cozy, budget-friendly decor for any season—whether it’s spring blooms, autumn hues, or holiday cheer. Follow these easy steps to craft your own!

 What You’ll Need

- Crepe paper (2-3 colors of your choice; 10-12 sheets total)

- A foam wreath form (8-10 inches in diameter)

- Hot glue gun + glue sticks

- Scissors

- Ribbon (for hanging, optional)

Step 1: Cut Crepe Paper into Strips

1. Lay a sheet of crepe paper flat (the “stretchy” side should be horizontal).

2. Cut it into 2-inch wide × 8-inch long strips (you’ll need 30-40 strips total, depending on the wreath size).

3. Repeat with other colors—mix shades for a lively look!

Step 2: Make Crepe Paper “Flowers”

1. Take one strip. Hold the two short ends together to form a loop.

2. Twist the loop’s center once to secure (it will look like a figure-8).

3. Add a dot of hot glue to the twisted center—press firmly to keep the shape. This is your first “petal cluster.”

4. Repeat with all strips until you have a pile of flower clusters.

Step 3: Glue Clusters to the Wreath Form

1. Start at the top of the foam form. Add a small blob of hot glue to the back of a flower cluster.

2. Press it firmly onto the wreath—hold for 2-3 seconds to let the glue set.

3. Continue gluing clusters close together (no foam should show!) until the entire form is covered. Mix colors randomly for a playful vibe.

Step 4: Add a Hanging Ribbon (Optional)

1. Cut a 12-inch piece of ribbon.

2. Tie it into a tight bow or simple loop.

3. Glue the ends of the ribbon to the back top of the wreath (hidden by flower clusters from the front).

Final Touch!

Fluff the crepe paper petals gently with your fingers to add volume. Hang it on your front door, above a mantel, or use it as a centerpiece—done!
