Hey there, crafty friends!
Today, we’re going to make the cutest little lion using colorful paper. It’s super fun and easy—let’s dive in!
Materials Needed
- 1 yellow square color paper (15cm x 15cm)
- 1 orange square color paper (12cm x 12cm)
- 1 small black square paper (3cm x 3cm)
- 1 tiny pink circle paper (or cut a 2cm square into a circle)
- Child-safe scissors
- Glue stick
- Pencil (for tracing, optional)
Our Bright Crafts color papers are perfect for origami—they’re vibrant, durable, and easy for little hands to fold!
Step 1: Fold the Lion’s Face
1. Take the yellow square paper. Fold it diagonally in half to form a triangle. Press the crease hard with your finger to make it neat.
2. Fold the two bottom corners of the triangle up towards the top point, leaving a small gap. These will be the lion’s ears!
Step 2: Create the Lion’s Mane
1.Use the orange paper. Draw a large circle on it (you can trace a bowl or a plate to get a perfect shape).
2.Cut out the circle with scissors. Then, make small cuts all around the edge of the circle—these are the “fur” of the mane. Don’t cut all the way to the center!
Step 3: Make Facial Features
1.From the black paper, cut a small nose shape (a triangle or a rounded rectangle is fine).
2.Cut two tiny circles from the black paper for the eyes.
3.Take the pink paper and cut a small oval or circle for the lion’s cheek.
Step 4: Assemble the Lion
1.Glue the yellow face (with ears) onto the center of the orange mane.
2. Stick the black nose in the middle of the yellow face.
3. Add the black eyes above the nose.
4. Glue the pink cheek next to the nose (add another on the other side if you want!).
5. Optional: Draw a small smile under the nose with a pencil or marker.
Step 5: Extra Fun (Optional)
1.Glue your lion onto a colored paper background (like green for grass!).
2.Make a body and a tail with a yellow paper strip and glue it to the background paper.
