| Surface |
| A smooth, completely dust and oil-free surface is a prerequisite for good adhesive results. Uneven surfaces can be smoothed by sanding. Remove all dust particles. Untreated wood (chipboard/plywood) should be pretreated with a base coat (primary coat/acrylic-based). |
| Hand tools |
| Scissors or cutter, pencil, straight edge or steel bar, soft cloth or rubber squeegee, possibly a hair dryer. |
| Steps |
| 1. Measuring |
| The centimeter divisions on the backing paper are helpful here. |
| 2. Cutting |
| Account for any overlaps. |
| 3. Applying |
| Pull off a few centimeters of the backing paper. Lay the sheet on an edge; gradually pull the paper off and simultaneously press the sheet on evenly with a soft cloth or a rubber squeegee, working from the center toward the edges. |
| Mistakes? |
| No problem: The correctable hnarts can be easily removed from solid surfaces during application and be applied again (with the exception of the mirrored sheeting and corrugated plate sheeting). |
| Bubbles |
| With stamped or printed sheets, pierce with a needle and press the air out through the hole. |
| Straight corners |
| Cut at 45 °angles. allow approx. 3-4 cm for the edges. |
| Seamless sheet joints |
| Are achieved by applying the sheets with approx. 5mm of overlap and cutting them both. Remove extra sheeting; press down. For large areas, shrinkage must be taken into account. |
| Wet application |
| Large, smooth surfaces (especially glass) can be covered more easily with this method. Mix water with a few drops of detergent and spray the surface with this. Completely pull off the backing paper. The sheet can be moved around on this water film until the final position is reached. Then, squeeze the water and air toward the sides. Any cloudiness in transparent sheeting disappears after a few days. |
| Rounded edges |
Can be covered by warming the sheeting with a hair dryer. Pull the sheet and quickly press it down. Press it down with a rag before it cools. |
| Precise edge ends |
| Are produced when the sheeting is cut with an overlap of approx. 4mm. Then, this overlap is cut off with a sharp knife (cutter). |
| Support at the edges |
| (Please test initially on an inconspicuous area) use normal super glue (softener-proof, please observe the indications of the merchant) or iron the attached sheeting with the iron on level 1, placing a piece of paper between the sheet and the iron. With mirrored sheeting, please remove the protective film first. |
| Cleaning and care |
| Usually, water and detergent are sufficient. In case of stubborn soiling, alcohol/methylated spirits can be used (where adhesive protrudes from joints, for example). |
| Removing the sheeting |
| The sheeting can be simply pulled off of solid surfaces again. The use of a hair dryer is advantageous here. Heat sheet with a hair dryer and then pull off. Any adhesive remnants can be removed with an alcohol-based solvent such as window cleaner (isopropyl alcohol), which may be mixed with detergent. Allow to swell a little and then remove with a cloth or a squeegee. |
